Bock beer, also known as bok bier or bok beer, is a well-known seasonal beer. There are both top-fermented and bottom-fermented bock beers. Originally only bottom-fermented bock beers were brewed. Nowadays top-fermented bock beer is also brewed. The beer style is celebrated every October with several bock beer festivals all over the country.
The taste of bock beer is very different per beer. The color of the beer can vary from light to dark to even a ruby red color. The flavors of the bock beers are often warm and sometimes with a sweet edge, almost caramel-like. In the Netherlands, in principle, everything is possible with regard to the composition of bock beer.
