Mead is also popularly referred to as honey wine, but it is not. Honey wine is a wine (made from grapes) to which honey has been added after the fermentation process. Mead is a drink (made from honey) that is fermented without grapes. So don't get confused! This drink was already widely consumed more than 2000 years ago, including in Ethiopia and Scandinavia. The story goes that this concoction originated in Asia and spread across the world over the centuries. The most famous peoples who drank this drink include the Frisians, the Saxons and the Vikings.
What is Mead:
Mead is a sweet drink made from water, yeast and, of course, honey. It is the only alcoholic snack made from an animal product: bee honey. There are different types, depending on the additives and how old the drink is. You can choose from young, but also older variants. Older varieties have a rich flavor due to the storage process they went through. In addition, as with wine, there are dry and sweet varieties. How sweet or dry it is depends on the type and amount of honey. One honey is not the other honey. Is the honey a little sweeter? Then the end result will be sweet too!
In our range you will find different types of mead that you can choose from. Including: cherry, vanilla, strawberry, apple and many more flavors.
